The Meeting

👤

📍
Venue Nigeria House, London — 4 September 2026
Duration One-hour discussion on sustained leadership development, professional learning and deeper British-Nigerian institutional cooperation in Hajj and Umrah

Fifteen Years of Context

For approximately fifteen years, WHUC Foundation and Hajj People have engaged with Nigeria's pilgrimage sector. Since NAHCON's establishment in 2006, that engagement has included six of the seven Chairmen who have led the Commission.

Across fifteen years, WHUC Foundation and Hajj People have worked with NAHCON, State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, associations and private agencies, including engagement with six of the seven NAHCON Chairmen since 2006.

A Continuing Conversation About Professional Excellence

At Nigeria House, the discussion placed the current programme within a longer relationship between British expertise, Nigerian institutions and the quality of the pilgrim experience.

"The High Commissioner welcomed the educational cooperation already taking place between British and Nigerian entities and expressed the view that there remains considerable scope for further institutional partnership, knowledge exchange and professional development."

What Is Polymorphic Leadership?

Leadership must adapt as the environment changes. Digitalisation, artificial intelligence, evolving regulation, changing pilgrim expectations and Saudi Arabia's continued development of the pilgrimage ecosystem are reshaping the environment in which Hajj & Umrah leaders operate.

Leadership is not treated as a fixed style. The programme examines how leadership must change according to the institution, stakeholder, culture, technology, risk and operating environment — while maintaining clarity of purpose and accountability.

From Oxford to Continuing Engagement

The first 2026 edition was delivered at Rhodes House, Oxford, with participation from the leadership and representatives of Nigeria's National Hajj Commission (NAHCON). It brought together professional development, institutional exchange and leadership learning within the international Hajj & Umrah sector.

The programme is now developing as a recurring platform through 2026–2030, intended to turn learning into practical institutional priorities and action.
